Kicking off National Park Week in style! The three of us took a trip to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in West Virginia for a day of exploring. We were excited to get Meghan here for her first visit. What a great day for our adventure; beautiful spring weather in the mountains with the perfect temperature! Not only was it the beginning of National Park Week, it was also Junior Ranger Day. We worked on Quinn’s booklet in the weeks leading up to our visit. A nice park ranger emailed us a digital copy of the booklet which allowed us to get some key pieces done ahead of time. This gave us more time to explore the park.
While at the park, we took in beautiful views of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. We took a walk on a railroad/walkway bridge (which was also a short part of the Appalachian Trail) over to the Maryland side. We saw people hiking and doing boating activities. Also saw some cool birds. Back in town, we toured several of the shops and buildings. After Quinn earned her Junior Ranger Badge (1 of 3 possible badges to earn), we visited the gift shop, ate lunch and topped off the day with some ice cream. A bonus highlight of the trip is when Quinn got to ride the bus to and from the main visitor center. We had a great time and know we will be back! Enjoy the photos!
